ambiguity [uncertainty / lack of commitment]

Another evangelical megachurch congregation has come out in favour of same-sex marriage.  This time it is GracePointe Church in Nashville, TN.

The evangelical collapse is coming. The broader market of seeker sensitive world oriented churches will not be able to withstand the pressure from the world.  They will be unable  to hold fast to long-established biblical doctrine [on this matter] as laid down by prophets, Jesus and the apostles.

What does that mean for us [assuming we are not part of the collapse and don’t cave to the pressure of political correctness instead of bible correctness]?

This is not a time for ambiguity [uncertainty / lack of commitment]. Ambiguity is the luxury of those who do not have to face the immediate harsh realities of life in the real world as experienced by true Christians.  Nor is it a time for the evangelical elites to fail to call their own to account.

It is surely going to be hard for those institutions and those people who have enjoyed a certain amount of wider social respectability to face the rather bleak future of social exclusion which standing firm and clear on this matter will bring in its wake.

Even when we try not too, all to often we care too much what the world thinks of us.  Standing firm on this and other issues is going to separate those who affirm what the world affirms and those that affirm what the bible affirms.  And this stance is going to cost you.

There is another separation that it will cause as well.  It will make more evident the separation of the sheep from the goats.
