I grew up in the Cold War. We had a clearly defined enemy on which to focus our fears. Now the enemy is everywhere. Teens today do not remember a world before 9/11 and school shootings. Things feel very hopeless and scary, and most adults around them are telling them if they work hard in school everything will be just fine. They know deep down that’s not enough, and they, like all generations, need real hope.
